Last month, The Nave had the privilege of hosting danceLAB's inaugural free dance performance, the first of two remarkable shows. LandezArts, dedicated to celebrating experimentation, justice, and technical dynamism, showcased their commitment to intellectually and socially informed dance-making through this captivating performance.

LandezArts' mission is to engage with art as a rigorous educational effort, fostering a diverse community of makers, performers, and spectators who believe in the transformative power of dance. This mission was beautifully realized in danceLAB's innovative and progressive performance, which elegantly blended the physical and artistic dimensions of dance.

We extend our heartfelt wishes to danceLAB for their future endeavors and are grateful they chose Victoria, Texas and the Nave as their launchpad!

We were thrilled to collaborate with the Victoria Fine Arts Association to host a live performance by the award-winning Mexican jazz singer and songwriter, Magos Herrera. Accompanied by the talented guitarist Vinicius Gomes, Herrera’s captivating vocals and Gomes’ soulful melodies filled our gallery, creating a magical evening that celebrated the intersection of art and music in our community. We were honored to be the chosen venue for this exceptional event and look forward to the opportunity for future collaborations with VFAA to bring more incredible performances to our community!

The Member Preview Event & Patron Party for the current double exhibits, "ADMIRATION" by sculptor Greg Reuter and "Unfolding" by painter Tracey Waldroup, proved to be yet another extraordinary evening at the Nave, as Reuter's other-worldly sculptures and Waldroup's rainbow-like acrylic and silicone paintings established two distinct ambiances in each gallery, both enchanting and thought-provoking in their own unique way. The gracious Patron Party hosts, Dr. Jeffrey and Mrs. Nina DiLeo, provided an exceptional location in their lovingly-maintained historic home, complemented by the delectable catering by Ryan Ybarbo, showcasing the hospitality of our members and the professionalism of our service providers, leaving us eagerly awaiting the next Member Preview & Patron Party on Thursday, June 6th!

We are immensely thankful for the enthusiastic participation at the exhibit preview event featuring the remarkable works of Felice House & Dana Younger. The wonderful turnout truly celebrated the artists' craft, for which they expressed deep gratitude. We'd like to extend our heartfelt appreciation to our exhibit sponsors, Kathy and Brent Smolik and Leah and Luke Smolik. Their generous support plays a pivotal role in our programming and organizational efforts, enabling us to host such exciting exhibits. Our gratitude also extends to our Patron Party hosts, LuAnn and T. Michael O’Connor, whose gracious hospitality and welcoming home added warmth to the evening’s event.

The opening night preview event for artist Jayne Duryea’s exhibit, “Gardens & Glass: Highlights of The Duryea Museum & The Duryea Gallery Artist-in-Residence Program" was a wonderful night! It was such a treat to hear Jayne speak about her exhibit and to meet two of her program artists, Natasha Kanevski and Matthew Diaz, whose art is also on display in the back gallery. We would like to thank our Patron Party hosts—Mr. John Moraida & Mr. Joseph Baugh— for graciously holding such a beautiful event at their lovely home.
